Enrolment Process

Annual Enrolments for Start of School Year

Year 9

  1. Contributing schools are visited by the Deputy Principal in charge of enrolments and enrolment packs are distributed. Enrolment packs are also distributed by the office on request and at the Open Evening.
  2. Interviews with senior management are offered during the enrolment process.
  3. Enrolments to be received by the deadline. The office checks correct completion of enrolment forms and communicates with the family.
  4. In-zone roll determined. Out of zone applicants balloted.
  5. Student information sheets sent to primary schools and collected at interview.
  6. IEP meetings held in November if necessary.
  7. Ako classes determined by Year 9 Dean using enrolment information.
  8. Ako Teachers collate Ako class information summary for subject teachers.
  9. Powhiri and orientation on first day of year.

Year 10 - 13

  1. Enrolment packs distributed by the office.
  2. Enrolments to be received by the deadline. The office checks correct completion of enrolment forms and communicates with the family.
  3. Decision to offer places to out of zone students made. Ballot if necessary.
  4. New student Powhiri and orientation day on same day as Year 9 first day.


Enrolments During the Year

  1. Only in zone students are entitled to enrol during the year. Re-enrolling students need to complete enrolment forms.
  2. Office distributes enrolment packs on request.
  3. Enrolment forms returned to office. Office checks correct completion of enrolment forms and communicates with family.
  4. Dean contacts previous school to confirm information.
  5. Dean interviews family and student. Proposed course of study agreed with family (course not confirmed at interview).
  6. Dean uses course confirmation form to check the proposed course.
  7. Once course is confirmed, a starting date for the student is set by the Dean.
  8. Office contacts previous school to obtain students personal file.
  9. Timetable given to Dean to explain to student.
  10. New student is given an orientation booklet and allocated a buddy on their first day.
  11. New student has follow up interview with appropriate Deputy Principal after first three weeks.
