Guidance (Counselling and Resources)
The Guidance Department at Onslow College exists to support Onslow students, whatever the issue! Feel free to drop by our offices to introduce yourself, or you can request a counselling appointment at this link.
Kia ora! My name is Abi and I am the Lead Counsellor at Onslow College. I like to think of the counselling space as the "room of requirement" at Onslow--it can be whatever a student needs it to be! Counselling can be a great way to work through challenging feelings, issues in peer relationships, academic stress and anxiety, or just to have a quiet space to talk through things. A bit about me: I'm originally from the United States, but I've been living in Wellington since 2017. My favorite things in the world are my dog, Iggy and my cat, Levon, and when I'm not at Onslow, I enjoy reading, board games and exploring around Wellington!
Kia ora kautou kautoa. I am Pam Jamieson and I work as a Guidance Counsellor at Onslow College on Monday and Tuesday. My whakakpapa is both Maori and Tauiwi. I have a Counselling Degree and am a Registered Member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. I started at Onslow at the beginning of term 2 – straight after Lockdown finished in April 2020 in fact. Onslow College is a rewarding school to be in and I love working with its rangatahi. On a personal level I live with my whanau in central Wellington and after coming here in 1996 now consider Wellington my turangawaewae.
Noho ora mai and all best wishes for 2021.
Kia ora my name is Fiona. I am a guidance counsellor here at Onslow Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week.
I applaud counselling as it is the ear needed for any age culture and gender. I am very open honest and totally with you in a warm safe environment when you come to see me. I am a mother, grandmother, driver, head chef, carpenter (small jobs) and gofer so I have seen and heard a lot. Please feel free to see me anytime.
