Student Wellbeing and Support

Student Wellbeing and Support is an important factor to the Onslow Community. At Onslow we provide a variety of different services and support systems to ensure student wellbeing is a high priority.

Onslow College provides experienced, on-site guidance counselors for all students needing any support. Our guidance counselors are extremely supportive and kind individuals who pride themselves on helping ākonga thrive and become their best selves.

Another feature of our Student Wellbeing and Support is a "Buddy Programme" for students new to Onslow College. This service is called Manaakitanga@Onslow and allows students to become involved in the betterment of their community.

For more information on these, please continue reading the information supplied on this page.

Peer Mediation

Peer Mediation is our way to provide students with the skills and knowledge to support each other and mediate disputes, without the need to involve teachers or other staff. Peer Mediation is by students, for students, and allows rangatahi to manage friendship breakdowns, bullying, disputes in class, or any other form of student to student disagreement. Both parties get a chance to have their say and come to a resolution that suits them together.

If you have a problem you’d like the Peer Mediators help you resolve, you can apply for mediation via this link

Buddy Programme

Manaakitanga@Onslow is our "Buddy Programme" for students new to Onslow College.

Not only does it help with the students integration into Onslow College, it is also a great leadership opportunity for Years 10-13 students to welcome new students into the school and enable them to fully take part in school life.

2024 Buddy applications are now open!

Students who wish to apply to be a buddy will be confident, friendly, good communicators and most importantly be kind.

Please fill in this form if you wish to be apart of Manaakitanga@Onslow.
