Year 10 Dean - Ana Welham
Welcome to Year 10 at Onslow College
You can find the subjects that you have been provisionally entered in for 2021 on your Student Portal under Student Information>Subjects>2021. If you wish to discuss your option choices, email your Dean email@example.com. Staff will be onsite to access emails from Thursday 28 January 2021. Please make all requests for option changes by Thursday 28 January.
Year 10 students who are new to Onslow College do an orientation morning on 5 February with a Pōwhiri. Whānau are also invited to attend the Pōwhiri. Please assemble 8:45am on the astroturf (up the main driveway) and the carpark beside it. Please do not wait in the driveway. After the Pōwhiri, everyone will share kai. This will be followed by the orientation programme which finishes around noon.
ALL Year 10 students meet in the Hall at 9:30 am on Tuesday 9 February, sitting in Ako class groups. You should check the Ako class lists in the Hall Foyer. Students will spend the morning with their Ako classes checking their courses and building whanaungatanga. Their ID Photos will be taken from 10:25. Students will finish at 2:15 pm.
We encourage you to email Ako/subject teachers if you have any questions and we will run Ako and Subject teacher conferences during Term 1 and Term 2.

Sports Registrations – Should students choose to participate in Sport please note that Sport Fees are compulsory. All sports registrations must be made online by mid-January. You will receive an email in mid-December outlining the process for online registration. Registrations must be completed by Friday 29 January and Summer Sport Fees must be paid within two weeks of being invoiced to Student School Account (unless you have an agreed payment plan with the Sports department). If students encounter issues with online registration they will need to come to the Sports Office at the College on 9 February (First day of school) to register.
Stationery - The school does not handle bulk stationery although an online option is available through Office Max My School https://www.myschool.co.nz/onslow.
BYOD – Students are expected to bring their devices to school in Year 10 to further support their studies. Please note that Chrome Books are not supported by the school at this time. If buying a laptop would cause financial hardship for your family, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org . I will pass this to the BYOD administrator and we will contact your family to discuss an alternative arrangement.
Transport - Buses will run as normal from Friday 5 February. See Bus information on school website.
Lockers - Please note that any unallocated lockers will be available for you from Tuesday 9 February. Lockers must be registered with the office.
We hope you have a good break and look forward to seeing you in 2021.
