Meeting Minutes

Key points from the Onslow PTA meeting, 16 August 2010

  • The Department of Education has given the go-ahead for the planned renovations to the Media Studies area and the Library.
  • Debbie Iversen, BoT Liaison to the PTA, attended the meeting.
  • A further three picnic tables, partly funded by the PTA, have been constructed for students to use.
  • A reminder to parents to bring cash for the regular PTA raffles at parent-teacher interview evenings will be added to the standard interview booking form.
  • The PTA coordinated roster for parent help in the Library at interval time is working well.
  • Another working bee for the Arboretum is being scheduled. Contact the school for further information.

 

 

Key points from the Onslow PTA meeting, 19 July 2010

  • Maria Goncalves-Rorke (Financial Service and Advice, Victoria University of Wellington) spoke to over 160 parents and students about tertiary costs and funding, how the scheme works and how to avoid the common pit falls.
  • The PTA will provide support for teachers at the upcoming parent-teacher interview evenings

  • The PTAs annual return to the Charities Commission has been filed
  • A copy of the revised PTA Constitution needs to be sent to the Societies Office
  • Hamish discussed plans for the new media studies area
  • PTA donations to the Arboretum were discussed
  • Planning for the Tertiary Costs and Funding evening on Monday 19th July were finalised
  • Planning for the report evenings was finalised

  • The PTA hosting of the ‘Meet the BoT candidates’ evening was reported on.
  • Catering support for the Open Evening on Wednesday 17th June was discussed and planned.
  • Promotion of the Tertiary Costs and Funding Information evening on Monday 19th July evening was discussed and planned.
  • The date for the Year 10 NCEA Information evening was confirmed for Thursday 19th August.
  • Details for the annual return to the Charities Commission were discussed and confirmed.

Key points from the Onslow PTA meeting, 19 April 2010

  • The role of Treasurer has changed from Jane Hunter to Marina Stevenson.
  • Support for teachers at the Family/Teacher Interview evenings was ably given by volunteers from the PTA Helpers lists.
  • PTA Helpers will now be contacted via email whenever help is required.
  • The next opportunity for PTA volunteers to help the college will be at the Open Evening, Wednesday 16 June.
  • Maria Goncalves-Rorke (Student Finance Advisor from Victoria University of Wellington) has confirmed that she will once again give her popular presentation about how to financially manage university education at the PTA meeting on Monday 19 July. This is the first Monday of Term 3.

Winter Tournament Week 

Congratulations to the Girls Hockey Team for making the Final of the Kate Trolove Tournament in Taupo. Good luck with your game at 3.30 on Friday.

Well done also to the Netball team in Wanganui and the Girls Football team in Palmerston North, who are both playing in the playoffs for 3rd and 4th on Friday, Good Luck,

Bowl Repaint

At the initiative of Pablo Ridler (Year 11) the old skatebowl has undergone a repaint and renovation. Using an Onslow inspired theme Pablo along with Gabby Simpson and Daniel Gordon have used holiday and after school time to give the bowl a frsh new look. Thanks Guys! Photo Gallery
