Key points from Onslow PTA meeting, 28 November 2011

  • Karen Doogan and Kate Koch were elected as co-chairs of the PTA.
  • Kirsty Hosie agreed to take over the role of Secretary after the 2012 AGM.
  • The PTA agreed to fund the purchase of seating and rubbish bin surrounds for the area surrounding the basketball courts.
  • Other funding ideas were discussed, including the possible purchase of a defribulator and updating internal and external college campus maps. Further investigation and discussion is required.
  • Lynley Graham was fare welled and thanked for her participation on the PTA Committee since 2007. Lynley has very ably organized the library roster and her calm and unflappable nature will be sorely missed.
  • Karen Thompson was thanked for all the times that she has made up juice for PTA assisted functions at school throughout the year.

Key points from Onslow PTA meeting, 26 September 2011

  •  Peter Leggat attended the meeting and reported on recent school activities and plans.
  • Plans were made for the PTA to help at the Sports Awards and Leaver’s Assembly.
  • Monday 14 November was set aside for a potential ‘Meet the BOT candidates’ meeting.  The PTA will host this meeting if it is required.

  • The Tertiary Costs Evening was a great success with about 170 students and their caregivers attending the presentation by Maria Goncalves-Rorke, Manager Financial Support and Advice, Victoria University of Wellington.

Key points from Onslow PTA meeting, 27 June 2011

  • The Committee had debriefs from the Year 10 Parent-Teacher Evening and the College Open Evening, and suggested that in future the drinks should be set up in the Foyer outside the hall to help prevent congestion at future Open Evenings.
  • The Committee discussed arrangements for catering for the upcoming Year 11, 12/13 Report Evenings in Term 2, the Year 10 NCEA Evening (Term 3), and the Tertiary Costs Evening (Term 3).

Key points from Onslow PTA meeting, 23 May 2011

  • The Committee talked about the Year 9 Tea function and agreed that the PTA’s aim to host the event and provide a light meal and an opportunity for families to socialize was achieved.
  • The Committee discussed arrangements for catering for the Year 10, 11 and 12 report evenings and the Open Evening.
  • The Committee agreed to fund a purchase of plants for the Arboretum. The plants bought are 20 x pittosporum, 20 x akeake, 20 x coprosma and 20 x flax.

Key points from Onslow PTA meeting, 15 November 2010

  • The final PTA meeting of 2010 began with an enjoyable and informative walk through the Arboretum with our tour guide and stalwart Arboretum supporter and tireless worker - Deidre Burke.
  • The PTA organised helpers to support the Sports Awards and Leavers functions, both of which were very successful.
  • Minka Bupha-Intr (Chair) thanked everyone on the Committee and all those who have helped to support the school on behalf of the PTA this year.
  • The Commitee wished Hamish Davidson all the very best for his future plans.

 


Key points from the Onslow PTA meeting, 18 October 2010

  • The PTA received a card from the Board of Trustees thanking the PTA for its continued support of the teachers and the school.
  • The PTA co-ordinated roster for parent help in the Library at interval time is working well.
  • Each committee member with a role or office on the PTA will work at creating a duty list specific to that role to aid new incombents.
  • Working bees for the Arboretum are held regularly on the first Sunday of every month between 10.00am and 12 noon.  Contact Deidre Burke for more details (mccarthy.burke@xtra.co.nz).
  • The final PTA meeting for the year will be held on Monday 15 November, 7.15pm in the College Library.  All are welcome to join us for coffee and cake and to review the PTA year.  We will also be taking the opportunity to walk in the Arboretum to see the progress made there.

 


Key points from the Onslow PTA meeting, 16 August 2010

  • The Department of Education has given the go-ahead for the planned renovations to the Media Studies area and the Library.
  • Debbie Iversen, BoT Liaison to the PTA, attended the meeting.
  • A further three picnic tables, partly funded by the PTA, have been constructed for students to use.
  • A reminder to parents to bring cash for the regular PTA raffles at parent-teacher interview evenings will be added to the standard interview booking form.
  • The PTA coordinated roster for parent help in the Library at interval time is working well.
  • Another working bee for the Arboretum is being scheduled. Contact the school for further information.

  • Maria Goncalves-Rorke (Financial Service and Advice, Victoria University of Wellington) spoke to over 160 parents and students about tertiary costs and funding, how the scheme works and how to avoid the common pit falls.
  • The PTA will provide support for teachers at the upcoming parent-teacher interview evenings
