Newsletter - 2006/02

Hello from the committee. Things are well underway for the up and coming 50th Reunion with registrations coming in quite regularly now. This newsletter is to give you some more in depth information about the planned events for the weekend. Please find listed below things we feel would be helpful to you about the weekend and also another registration form with prices now being confirmed. We need registrations and event money to be paid as soon as possible.

20th October 2006 Friday Night – Onslow College Hall
Nibble and Natter. This will be a very low-key event giving everybody a chance to catch up with others in a relaxed atmosphere. On offer will be a sausage sizzle, sandwiches and tea and coffee throughout the night. Cash bar will be available.

21st October 2006 Saturday – Onslow College – starting at 11.00am
School tours, decade and group photos. Café will be open in the school hall.
2.00pm: Official opening of Arboretum
3.00pm: Cutting of the cake.
3.30pm: Past staff/board members afternoon tea with photos. Ongoing planning for this day. Further events to be advised.

Saturday Night – Onslow College Hall
A series of performances are being planned by current students, followed by a light supper. It is expected that this event will consist of a gold coin donation for entry.

22nd October 2006 Sunday Morning - Wellington Rowing Club
Official unveiling of the new Onslow College boat. Past and present pupils/rowers/staff invited. Rowing demonstration from present and possible past pupils.
Lunch

Sunday Afternoon - Wellington Bus Tour
A bus tour of Wellington for those who might not have been here for a while stopping off along the way for some afternoon tea. Tour is approximately 2˝ hours, leaving Onslow College at 1.30pm. Expected return to college is 4.00pm. Partners are more than welcome to come along. They might enjoy this especially if they haven’t attended any other events over the weekend.

Sunday Night - Jubilee Dinner - Queens Wharf Event Centre starting at 6.30pm
This is our main function for the weekend, offering you some fine food and entertainment. Our caterer for the event is Ruth Pretty Catering. Some of you might be aware that she has just recently won a major award here in New Zealand. There will be a cash bar. We are limited to numbers so please register and pay for this event.

Alternative Function - venue to be advised
There has been some confusion over this event so we need to explain. For those pupils who have left the college in the last 10 years, this is the venue for you. So if you left the college in 1995 or after you might like to consider attending. It will be at a well known Wellington bar, providing you with a light supper and music to dance the night away. To register for this event you will need to provide us with the name you used at Onslow so we can verify you on the roll; provide us with birth date identification so we can make sure that no under age people are entering and this event will be a very strict, ticket only event.

Help us to make this weekend a memorable event for you all. On the bottom of the registration paper are some general questions that will help the committee with further planning. Please take the time to answer so we can continue with our arrangements.
