Congratulations to...
• Rose Symmes - successful in winning a GO2OU award from the University of Otago.
• Nick Hann - selected to represent New Zealand in the Junior World Orienteering Championships in Slovakia during early July this year.
• Charlotte Flanagan - selected by the New Zealand National Rifle Association for the New Zealand Ladies Rifle Team to compete in a tri-nations match in April 2013 in South Africa.
• Caleb Adlam - competed in the New Zealand Formula Four (Bucket) Race New Zealand Grand Prix at the Taupo Motorsport Track on Sunday 25 March. He came 11th out of a field of about 30 riders on the start grid.
• Alex Rivett - competed in the Central Districts Judo Championships in Blenheim and won silver in the Cadet Men under 60kg, bronze in the Cadet Men Open and bronze in the Junior Men under 60kg.
• Joss Traub - won a gold medal at the East Coast judo competition in the Junior Men (Under 20yr) under 73kg division.
• Reece Traub - won a gold medal in the Cadet Men under 45kg division at the East Coast judo competition.
The Japanese Proficiency Test
The Japanese Proficiency Test is an internationally recognised test and a good qualification to prove Japanese proficiency in order to go to Japanese universities or to apply for jobs.
Congratulations to the following students who passed JLPT:
• Lisa Kiyomoto-Fink and Trees Neal passed N5.
• Kane Miyamoto passed N4.
• Asea Miyamoto passed N3.
Tiare Ngata (Year 9) - selected in the Wellington Under 15 Girls Basketball Team. The Team will represent Wellington at the Basketball NZ (BBNZ) U15 Girls Premierships Tournament in August. If the Team is successful at this tournament they will go on to compete at the BBNZ U15 National Championships in October.
Pingkan Polak (Year 9) - won the Girls' doubles title at the New Zealand (Nationals) under 15 Badminton Championship with her partner from Auckland. She was also a Semi-Finalist in both the Singles and Mixed doubles in the same tournament. This event was held in Palmerston North from 21-23 July. Pingkan was also the 2011 Wellington College Sport Junior Girls Singles champion in badminton, which was held at Wellington Badminton Hall on 13 July.
Liam Neal (Year 10) - qualified and will be competing in seven events at the New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championships here in Wellington. Liam competed at the Swimming New Zealand Division 2 championships held in Rotorua and was very successful winning seven gold medals for 1500 Free, 400 Free, 400 Individual Medley, 200 Free, 200 Individual Medley, 200 Fly and the 13-14 year old boys Wellington Medley Relay. Liam also competed at the Manawatu Swimming championships in the first weekend of the school holidays where he won three silver medals and one bronze.
Joss Traub (Year 12) - won a gold medal in the 73kg division and a bronze medal in the open weight division at the Secondary Schools judo championships. He also won a gold medal in the under 73kg cadet and junior men divisions and the cadet open weight division and a silver medal in the junior men’s open weight division at the Wellington open judo competitions held over the school holidays.
Phoebe Anderson (Year 9) - competed in the Hutt Valley Winter Open tennis tournament over the holidays and was runner up in the girls 14 singles and with her partner won the girls 14 doubles.
