General Rules
Onslow College expects a high standard of behaviour and responsibility. These standards are described in the school Expectations.
Attendance
· We expect 100% attendance from students at all levels.
· As a courtesy and safety measure caregivers should contact the school to inform of any unavoidable student absences. Students must bring a note to their form teacher on the day of their return.
· Students who are late arriving or need to leave school during the day must register at the office.
· If a student is unwell they should report to sickbay. If required, parents will be contacted and can collect their child from the office.
· Year 9 - 12 students may not leave the school during the day without written permission from their caregivers.
· Applications for special leave (holidays or planned absences) must be forwarded to the Principal.
Homework
· Subject teachers set homework when further work outside the classroom is considered necessary. It may take a variety of forms.
· Students are expected to complete all their homework tasks.
· Year 9-12 students are given a diary in which to keep a record of their homework, assessments and meetings.
Text Books
· Textbooks will be issued free to students as they are required. Damage or loss will be charged to the student who was issued with the textbook.
Property
· Deliberate or careless damage to school property or resources will be charged to the student(s) responsible.
· For safety or management reasons some areas of the school will be deemed out of bounds.
· Students should take appropriate care in safeguarding their own possessions. The school accepts no responsibility for the damage, loss or theft of valuables.
· A limited number of lockers are available for student use.
· Items may be confiscated if they are not permitted at school or are being used in a disruptive or inappropriate manner.
· Cell phones must be turned off during class time.
Restricted items
· Onslow College is a smokefree school.
· Students are not permitted to have tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs at school, or at any school activity.
· Substances or articles likely to be harmful (fireworks, firearms, knives, cigarette lighters, matches) must not be brought to school.
Dress
· There is no set uniform for normal daywear.
· Student clothing should be clean and appropriate to educational activities.
· Logos and graphics must be appropriate i.e. not offensive or promoting alcohol or illegal substances.
· Footwear should be worn at all times.
· For safety reasons, some departments may specify particular clothing requirements.
· It is expected that students bring a change of appropriate clothes for PE classes.
· Uniforms are worn by sports teams and other groups.
Motor Vehicles
· All vehicles used by students for transport to school must be registered with the Deputy Principal. Cars used by students are to be parked in the car park by Burma Road.
· Speed limits must be observed within the school grounds.
· While using motor vehicles for transport to and from school, students are expected to demonstrate responsible and courteous behaviour.
· Parents bringing or picking up students are asked to use the parking bay on Burma Road, clear of the gates.
Skateboards and Bicycles
· Skateboards and bicycles may be used during breaks in the designated areas only.

Winter Tournament Week
Congratulations to the Girls Hockey Team for making the Final of the Kate Trolove Tournament in Taupo. Good luck with your game at 3.30 on Friday.
Well done also to the Netball team in Wanganui and the Girls Football team in Palmerston North, who are both playing in the playoffs for 3rd and 4th on Friday, Good Luck,

Bowl Repaint
At the initiative of Pablo Ridler (Year 11) the old skatebowl has undergone a repaint and renovation. Using an Onslow inspired theme Pablo along with Gabby Simpson and Daniel Gordon have used holiday and after school time to give the bowl a frsh new look. Thanks Guys! Photo Gallery
